Top Ten Tips for New Creative Writers

12 March 2020
Being a writer can be hard but very rewarding, many people start writing without thinking about the full process and where they are going. These ten tips are designed to give you something to think about before you start on your journey.

1. Write for yourself.
2. Pick a tense and stick with it.
3. Find help online, Facebook groups, articles and software.
4. Find your voice.
5. Write what you know and what you like to read.
6. The start of your story must hook the reader.
7. Enjoy it. Love it. Do it often.
8. Edit and find others to help you edit.
9. Share your work.
10. Keep going, don’t let little setbacks stop you.

Remember the only difference between writers and non - writers is putting words on paper. Opinion is that you are a writer when you start writing and an author once you publish your first work.
Keep going and have faith in your abilities, you will need a very thick skin because rejection is part of a writers life.
